Doorman is a customer-facing VPN that provides access to the private subnets within your Equinix Metal environments. At its core, Doorman a Go service that manages an OpenVPN instance and integrates everything with our API (including users, organizations, 2FA, etc) for easy access control.
Up until now, we've offered Doorman as a platform service. However, to enhance security and help customers operate more confidently, we've decided to move to a "self-service" option that each customer controls. To support that we've open-sourced Doorman and made it super easy to run.
